How to Book a Rental
You can book your rental cottage online via our "All Rentals" tab. Guests must have a valid credit card or Visa debit to submit online payment.
Booking Requirements
Rentals may only be booked by an adult who is 25+ with valid photo ID, who will be remaining on site for the duration of the stay. Units are single-family occupancy only.
Minimum Stay Requirements
All our rental units have a 3 night minimum stay requirement.
“Mini-weeks” provide check in on Mondays with a check-out on Fridays. (Monday-Friday)
Weekend bookings are Friday check-ins with a Monday check-out. (Friday-Monday)
Check In and Out
Guests are allowed into the park at any time on the day of check-in, however your unit will not be ready until 3pm. All guests are required to check-out by 10AM on the day of departure.
Accessing Your Rental
Ten days prior to your arrival you will receive electronic instructions on how to enter the unit. All pertinent details including the lockbock code and wifi information will be in this Rental Guide emailed to you.
Sherkston Resort Registration Fee
All occupants, aged 6 and over are subject to a resort registration fee of $16.95 per person to enter the premises. This fee is subject to change without notice. Please note that all pay per use amenities including the Funplex are at an additional cost.
Damages
All damages and losses are recouped from the guests damage deposit. A hold is placed on the guests credit card 24 hours prior to your arrival and released 5 business days after departure, pending no damages. Please note – this is a hold, not a charge. A charge will only occur if damages are caused.
Travel Insurance
Travel cancellation insurance is not provided directly through Sunshine Cottage Rental Co., but it can be purchased through a third party provider at the renters own discretion. All costs associated with purchasing their own insurance are incurred at the renters expense.
Booking Contract
Upon receipt of your payment you will be issued an electronic contract via “Docusign”. Please complete the contract within 24 hours to ensure your booking is fully secured.
Trip Cancellation
We know that sometimes last-minute changes arise, however all our vacation rentals do require non-refundable payments. Any payments made are non-refundable.
Cleaning
All of our rental units are professionally cleaned. We ask you to leave the vacation rental in the same condition in which you found it. Please put everything back I its place and be sure to remove all waste. Garbage removal is the guests responsibility. There is no garbage pick-up and therefore drop off is required at designated drop off spots. The garbage disposal areas are the white fenced areas with signage indicating garbage and recycling.
Packing for Your Stay
PLEASE REMEMBER: Linens including bedding, pillows and towels are NOT provided. Please see our "Linen Rentals" page for info on how you can have your preferred linens delivered right to your cottage door.
Below is a list of suggestions on what may be helpful to have during your stay.
- Swimsuit and goggles
- Beach and pool toys
- Beach and bath towels
- Sun screen, aloe vera, bug spray
- Toiletries including toilet paper and paper towels
- Clothes appropriate to the weather. Don’t forget a sweater for those cooler summer nights!
- Personal care items such as deodorant, shampoo, conditioner and body wash
- Bedding: sheets, blankets, pillows
- Food and beverages
- A cooler
- Garbage bags
- Coffee (coffee makers provided)
Pet Friendly Rentals
We love pets and understand how hard it can be to travel without them. Properties that accept dogs are specifically identified in their profiles. All other pets are prohibited. Guests who bring a pet to a cottage where it is prohibited, will be asked to leave and will forfeit all monies paid for the stay.
What to do if an Issue Arises
Please contact Sunshine Cottage Rental Co. immediately so we can rectify any issues.
Tap Water
The water is potable and safe for consuming. We do suggest having bottled water on hand for beach days or in the rare case of power outages.
Wildlife
Animals and bugs are a part of life in any Cottage Country!
Life at Sherkston is different from life in the city. Remember that most critters are more frightened of you than you are of them.
It is important to observe some rules when vacationing:
- Don’t leave food out overnight, especially on the decks.
- Don't leave patio doors open. Chipmunks, squirrels, skunks, mice and ants love to visit.
- Lights at night will attract moths and other insects, some small enough to penetrate screens.
- Some areas will have more bugs than others.
